SEO is a nutshell. There are two kinds of SEO: on-page SEO and off-page SEO. On-page SEO is made up of technical SEO (e.g. do your pages load fast) and, for want of a better descriptor, keyword SEO. Keyword SEO is basically about Google’s ability to figure out what your website is about. SEOs assist with that through organizing your keywords, especially in the tags (title tag, H1 tag, h2 tags). On-page SEO is about what you want to rank for.

Off-page SEO is about how trustworthy you are as a search destination. As such, off-page SEO is about how highly you rank and ranking highly is about sending signals to Google that you are being talked about. In 2022, those signals come from reviews (e.g. 3r-party Google My Business reviews, first-party reviews, etc.) and from links. And in the age of Google Local (involving Google’s ability to confirm that you are where you say you are), NAP accuracy (name, address, phone) is an increasingly important trust signal.
